Appreciation of Your Support
This year, 65 Teams raised over $12,000 for the combined charities of Halie Pigott, Kyle Douglas Family and Casting for Recovery!
October, 2009, 67 teams raised over $12,000 for Casting for Recovery! 68 teams allowed the 2008 APC Fishing Tournament to collect $15,000 for CASA (Court Appointed special Advocates). Child Advocates of Montgomery County, Inc. trains and supports volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children under the court’s jurisdiction.
October 2007, sixty-nine teams allowed the 2007 APC Fishing Tournament to collect $25,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foudation. Those funds granted the wishes of at least five children in the Montgomery County area.
The generosity of the tournament anglers was a great demonstration of our altruistic participants and their enormous hearts, and it displayed our long-standing tradition of giving back to the community in which we work and live.
In 2006, that kindness was on full display as Anadarko employees and their guests went above and beyond to donate to one of their own during the 2006 tournament. The 18th annual tournament raised $100,000 for Chris Sparks, a rig operator whose wife needed emergency surgery for scoliosis, a condition that involves curvature and deformity of the spine. It was the largest amount ever raised in the tournament’s 18 years, and it brought special moments and a few tears as well.
Employees who worked with Chris gave up a day's pay and challenged their colleagues to do the same. After receiving the large donation to pay for the Sparks’ medical bills, the hospital forgave the remainder of the $250,000 bill.
The Tournament Committee is continuing to support Casting for Recovery as the charity for the 2011 APC Fishing Tournament. We encourage our participants to visit its Web site to find out more about its mission.
The committee extends its warm appreciation to all of its participants over the last 20 years who have left a mammoth footprint on our community. We hope that you will continue the tradition of generosity to our selected charity in 2008 and for years to come.
